When I recently pulled into my mom’s driveway, there was a flock of about 15 American White Ibises hanging out on her lawn, foraging for food.
They looked up and acknowledged me as I took this photo — by edging away from me and continuing to eat. As I retreated toward the house, they went right back to where they were. It’s as if they were thinking, “You can come and go. We’ll be over here having dinner.”
Apparently, these birds are regular residents of the neighborhood. None of the neighbors will let anyone — human or animal — mess with them. ☀️
