When your group’s name also means “myth” or “legend,” expectations are going to be high… even when it’s not your much anticipated, post-military comeback.
The men of Shinhwa (신화) more than live up to their billing. Their new album, appropriately titled Vol. 10: The Return, is amazing for its consistent level of quality, fun and diversity, with tracks that range from gorgeous R&B-style ballads to hooky dance tracks, like “Venus” (below). I’ve been compelled to play all of them – almost non-stop – for the better part of a week.
I like how they played with mythology in the video, and I love how all the letters/symbols flashing throughout the video spell out a “thank you” message to their fan club members.
Bonus points: They have their marketing and distribution act together on all fronts. In addition to selling out of the album’s physical limited-edition version, they also released it simultaneously worldwide via multiple digital download services, including U.S. iTunes. ♫
