This weekend was a traumatic one for my household. I took Kitty-mon, pictured above, to the vet. (No panic necessary; she’s fine. Read on for details.)
I knew this appointment would be more involved than a normal checkup. In late December or early January, I noticed she had a skin tag hidden in her fur, and I’ve been keeping an eye on it. Then on the morning I left for Chicago (and C2E2), I noticed one of her teeth looked a little longer than it usually did.
Those two things prompted an emergency surgery yesterday afternoon to remove her tooth and the suspect growth. 🙁
The vet was cool and let me pick her up this morning, so I could spend Sunday observing her. Josie’s been living up to her nickname. Within the first two hours, she managed to do almost everything she wasn’t supposed to do — from hopping on the furniture to going up and down the stairs! Does the picture above look like a cat who had surgery and oral surgery less than 24 hours ago? >^..^<
I put chairs next to the bed, so Josie has steps up to her usual resting spots. Beyond that, I’m not sure what else I can really do. She’s already demonstrated she can (and will) jump, so there’s no point in blockading the stairs with a baby gate. It would only increase the likelihood she’d get hurt. She’s eating and drinking normally — and not bothering her stitches — so that’s something.
Get well soon, Kitty-mon!
