I never was a fan of Florida’s heat and humidity, but as much as everyone complains about the humidity here… It’s not as hot or humid in Iowa. Actually, it’s pretty nice.
And it gives me an excuse to wear cute, fun things to work for a change, like today’s pink plaid dress and this awesome green leather purse. Isn’t it fierce? I love it, and it makes me happy.
Some other amusing things…
• I was doing some research on the anime series Black Lagoon for work, and I was very surprised to see my alma mater pop up in yet another strange place.
Apparently, Benny — the crew’s technical expert — is rumored to be a “former post-graduate student at the University of Florida.” What’s funny is that the school is very specifically singled out.
This partly might be because of the school’s proximity to Disney World and its Gator mascot. But I also have to wonder if someone in Japan has any idea just how many of Florida’s old families include ancestors who were pirates, privateers, smugglers, and shipwreckers.
• I finally finished Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. It was good, but my full-blown affection for and interest in the series didn’t kick in until I got to the third movie. I’m really looking forward to reading Prisoner of Azkaban.
• On the horror-mixed-with-fascination front, have you ever heard of a Canadian show called Holmes on Homes? I was working late on a project over the weekend and happened to catch it on TLC in the early hours of Sunday morning.
This family was having noise problems with their new townhouse, and the host literally tore it apart to find the issue and then put it back together. By the end, you couldn’t even tell he and his crew had been there. Wow. And he fixed it. Double wow. I want him to visit MY house.
